For centuries, the richest and illustrious members of the society had the possibility of being buried inside the churches or the cloisters. More was spent on decorating the tomb, more service was provided to the church and therefore it was easier to earn a place in paradise. The chance was even higer is buried close to a Saint.
In this way a good part of the works of art in our churches were created. I do not know if someone really earned paradise doing this, but thanks to them we can admire some impressive masterpieces.
Inside of the Basilica of Saint Anthony in Padova there are many of these monumental tombs, however I prefer those ones that are outside the church, in the corridors of the first cloister. They are simpler and with some interesting details.

Durante siglos, los mas ricos e ilustres miembros de la sociedad tenían la posibilidad de ser enterrados al interno de las iglesias o de los claustros. Mas se gastaba en adornar la tumba mayor servicio se prestaba a la iglesia y por consiguiente se podía mas fácilmente ganar un lugar en el paraíso.
De este modo fueron creados una buena parte de las obras de arte en nuestras iglesias. No se si alguien se gano realmente el paraíso asi, pero gracias a ellos hoy podemos admirar algunas impresionantes obras maestras.
Al Interno de la basílica de San Antonio en Padova hay muchas de estas tumbas monumentales, sin embargo yo prefiero las que están fuera de la iglesia en los corredores del primer claustro. Son mas simples y con algunos detalles interesantes.
